Binairo (also known as Takuzu or Binary Puzzle) is a captivating logic game played on a rectangular grid. It uses only two symbols—typically 0s and 1s, or black and white circles.
Despite its simple rules and minimalist design, Binairo requires deep logical thinking to avoid illegal patterns.
The grid must be filled completely with exactly two symbols. There are three core rules:
1. You cannot have more than two of the same symbol adjacent to each other in a row or column (e.g., 1-1-1 is illegal). 2. Each row and each column must contain an equal number of both symbols. 3. No two rows can be exactly identical, and no two columns can be exactly identical.
Look for pairs: If you see '1-1', place a '0' on both sides to prevent three in a row. If you see '1-0-1', you cannot do much, but if you see '1-empty-1', the middle must be a '0'.
Count your symbols! If a row of 10 cells already has five '1's, then all remaining empty cells in that row must be '0's.
Binairo trains pattern recognition and counting skills. It forces you to constantly shift your attention between micro-patterns (adjacent cells) and macro-patterns (row totals).
It is a highly relaxing puzzle because it doesn't involve arithmetic, relying purely on visual and logical rules.
